Data Protection

Define data controls for the actual system.

Data protection requires system-specific evidence. This page describes review questions; it does not claim universal encryption settings, tenant isolation, backup schedules, or tested recovery.

Controls

Protection review framework

Confirm implementation and evidence for each system, provider, and environment.

Encryption and secrets

Transport and storage

Verify protocol, storage encryption, key ownership, and coverage in the selected environment.

Key lifecycle

Record key owner, access, rotation, revocation, and evidence; no standard rotation interval or BYOK capability is asserted.

Credentials

Keep credentials out of source, front-end bundles, prompts, and public documentation; identify approved storage and revocation.

Backups and recovery

Backup scope

Identify systems, data, frequency, access, retention, encryption, and expiry.

Restore evidence

Record restore procedure, test scope, date, result, and unresolved limitations.

Recovery objectives

Set RTO/RPO only where architecture, ownership, and tests support the commitment.

Isolation and deletion

Tenant boundaries

Test tenant-scoped authorization, queries, files, integrations, and administrative paths.

Environment boundaries

Map identities, data, secrets, and network paths across environments.

Deletion lifecycle

Define deletion scope, downstream providers, backup expiry, verification, and legal exceptions.

Data lifecycle

Map data from collection through deletion.

For each data class, record source, purpose, authorized users, storage and provider locations, model processing, retention, export, deletion, backup expiry, legal holds, and a named owner. No universal retention period or deletion deadline is published.

Collect only what is needed
Limit and review access
Define retention by system
Verify deletion and expiry

Isolation

Test tenant and environment boundaries

Isolation depends on the actual architecture. Verify authorization and data-flow boundaries rather than assuming tenant separation from a product label.

Tenant-scoped authorization and queries
File, retrieval, and integration boundaries
Environment identity, data, and secret separation
Administrative and support access paths
Cross-tenant leakage tests and negative cases
Audit requirements and evidence retention

Need to scope data protection?

Identify the data, system boundary, providers, retention needs, and evidence requirements for your review. Availability of detailed documentation must be confirmed individually.
